The Cyberspace Administration of China held a National Conference on Online Ecosystem Governance in Beijing yesterday (10th). The meeting emphasized that strengthening online ecosystem governance is an important measure to unswervingly advance the building of a cyber power, an inherent requirement of implementing a people-centered development philosophy, and a fundamental safeguard for promoting the healthy development of the platform economy. It called for raising political awareness and deepening understanding to further enhance the sense of responsibility, mission and urgency in online ecosystem governance work. Clear objectives and tasks should be defined, key priorities identified, and governance capabilities and standards continuously improved.Efforts should be made to address both symptoms and root causes, enhance the effectiveness and quality of special campaigns, improve long-term governance mechanisms, and ensure the implementation of institutional measures. In strengthening foundational management, authorities should strictly oversee internet access points, major traffic gateways, and entry points for new business models and applications. In reinforcing platform responsibilities, the meeting called for stronger governance of platform rules, improved account management efficiency, enhanced platform operation management, and the regulation and management of minors' internet use. In promoting technological empowerment, it stressed leveraging emerging technologies while mitigating risks, enriching technical tools in line with the times, and making forward-looking plans to guide technology toward positive use.
