Taobao Hong Kong held a launch press conference for its 618 shopping festival, breaking tradition this year by adopting a "midnight launch, no pre-sale" strategy.

The first phase, 618 Early Access (in-stock items), will run from 00:00:00 on May 21 to 23:59:59 on May 30. The second phase, 618 Carnival (in-stock items), will run from 00:00:00 on May 31 to 23:59:59 on June 21.

Tmall Supermarket will officially enter Taobao Hong Kong on May 31, promising "orders paid before 4 pm will be delivered the next day; orders paid after 4 pm will be delivered the day after next".

Wellcome and PARKnSHOP are reportedly considering a merger. When asked whether there are plans for offline M&A in Hong Kong, Ding Zhencai, General Manager of Taobao and Tmall for Hong Kong and Macau, said there are currently no offline acquisition moves.

He noted that more Hong Kong residents are traveling northbound with demand for mainland products, expressing hope that Tmall Supermarket's self-operated model can meet such demand.
