SMIC (00981.HK)  -0.200 (-0.291%)    Short selling $1.01B; Ratio 12.660%   opened 0.84% lower this morning (18th) but stabilized in early trading. It last quoted at HKD71.8, up 0.91%, with turnover of 15.642 million shares, involving HKD1.114 billion.

HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK)  +0.800 (+0.691%)    Short selling $627.57M; Ratio 20.811%   also opened 0.78% lower before regaining stability. It last quoted at HKD119.5, up 3.11%, with turnover of 6.0022 million shares, involving HKD711 million.

The US government had approved the sale of NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US)      H200 AI chips to 10 Chinese companies, earlier report said.

However, US President Donald Trump later said that H200 is very good, and China needs it, while confirming that China has not approved the transaction, stating that they chose not to do that; they want to try to develop it themselves.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said that chip export controls were not discussed during the talks between the two sides.
