According to mainland media reports, China Media Group (CMG) has secured the broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament will be held from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico, featuring 48 teams competing in 104 matches. It is reported that FIFA initially quoted CMG between USD250 million and USD300 million, while CMG's budget was reportedly only around USD60 million to USD80 million. Even after FIFA later lowered the asking price to approximately USD120 million to USD150 million, a significant gap between the two sides still remained. (su/da)
