According to mainland media reports, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), published an article stating that the mainland should accelerate the introduction of standards for economy electric vehicles, improve the C7 driving licence system, promote their adoption in county-level and rural areas as well as in the ageing market, and help domestic automakers build global competitive advantages. At present, economy electric vehicles have become a mainstream category for mobility worldwide. With their economic, convenient and practical features, they cater to livelihood needs in multiple countries and regions. Cui believes that introducing unified standards is not only key to meeting demand from the domestic ageing and county-level markets and addressing industry pain points such as the sluggish auto market, but also an important measure to align with international markets, promote the upgrading of the automotive industry and foster the development of domestic brands expanding overseas.
