The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) announced that it recently conducted an inquiry into the shareholding distribution of ASIA TELE-NET (00679.HK) +2.060 (+21.281%) . The results showed that as at April 20, a total of 20 shareholders collectively held 67.5495 million shares, representing 17.69% of the issued share capital. Such shareholding, together with approximately 280 million shares held by the controlling shareholder of the company, accounted for 73.11% of the issued shares, representing 90.8% of the total issued shares as at April 20. As a result, only 35.1427 million shares, representing 9.2% of the issued shares, were held by other shareholders.The SFC stated that given the high concentration of shareholding in the hands of a small number of shareholders, even a small number of shares traded could lead to significant price volatility.
