South Korea President Lee Jae-myung is on a state visit to India, where he signed 15 cooperation documents, including a joint declaration to resume upgrade negotiations on the Korea-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), marking the formal restart of the CEPA upgrade talks. In addition, South Korea and India signed memoranda of understanding confirming cooperation in areas such as shipbuilding, nuclear power plants, and critical minerals.Speaking at the Korea-India Business Forum in New Delhi, Lee Jae-myung said that the current trade volume between the two countries remains insufficient compared with the size of Indias vast economy. He stated that both sides should expand investment cooperation and work toward doubling bilateral trade.Lee added that the two countries should collaborate in high-tech industries. If Indias strengths in AI and software can be combined with South Koreas manufacturing capabilities in semiconductors, batteries, automobiles, and shipbuilding, significant synergies could be generated.
