According to foreign media reports, Deutsche Lufthansa AG said that, in light of rising aviation fuel prices and higher costs caused by strike actions, 27 aircraft operated by its subsidiary CityLine will be permanently grounded starting this week. Four Airbus A340-600 long-haul aircraft will be retired at the end of the summer flight schedule. During this years winter flight schedule, short- and medium-haul capacity will be reduced by five aircraft. Meanwhile, its subsidiary Discover will introduce Airbus A350 aircraft to accelerate expansion.Lufthansa is currently in a dispute with the pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit over pension plans.
