Reuters, citing sources, reported that Yangtze Memory Technologies Co (YMTC) plans to build two additional plants on top of a new facility scheduled for completion this year. Once the three new plants are fully operational, each will have a monthly capacity of 100,000 wafers, more than doubling the companys overall production capacity. YMTC currently has two plants in operation with a combined monthly capacity of 200,000 wafers.The report said YMTCs third plant is located in Wuhan and, like the first two facilities, is expected to commence production within the year, with capacity reaching 50,000 wafers per month next year. The plant has been completed and is installing equipment, more than half of which is sourced from domestic enterprises, including key tools required for chip layer vertical stacking.
