Secretary for Justice Lam Ting-kwok, a senior barrister, led a delegation composed of representatives from the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Bar Association, and local and international law firms to continue their visit to Hangzhou on Wednesday (25th).In the morning, Lam and the delegation visited the Zhejiang Province Zheshang Foreign-related Legal Service Center to gain an in-depth understanding of the current state of foreign-related legal services in Zhejiang Province and to explore opportunities for cooperation between Zhejiang and Hong Kong in areas such as talent development, international arbitration, and commercial dispute resolution.They later attended an exchange seminar with representatives from the Zhejiang legal community. Lam Ting-kwok and Lou Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Justice, first exchanged discussions on cooperation between the legal communities of Hong Kong and Zhejiang Province. Subsequently, representatives from the Zhejiang legal community introduced the forms and latest trends of mainland enterprises going global, as well as common legal and risk management issues. Representatives from the Hong Kong legal community highlighted the unique role of Hong Kong's legal profession in assisting enterprises in going global. Both parties also discussed strengthening professional cooperation between the legal and mediation communities of the two regions to jointly support mainland enterprises going global and discussed cooperation in the exchange and training of foreign-related legal talents between the two regions.At the seminar, Lam Ting-kwok stated that in recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Zhejiang and Hong Kong has continued to deepen, with both parties serving as important engines for the country's high-quality development, presenting significant potential for cooperation. As the only common law jurisdiction within China, Hong Kong has a significant advantage in legal services. With more Zhejiang enterprises entering the global market, Hong Kong's legal community can provide one-stop professional services for cross-border investment and financing, international arbitration, and compliance review for mainland enterprises. He hopes to continue to comprehensively deepen the cooperation between the legal communities of Zhejiang and Hong Kong, promoting complementary advantages of the industries in both regions, jointly enhancing the professional standards and international credibility of dispute resolution services, and working together to safeguard enterprises as they "go global."In the afternoon, Lam and his delegation visited the Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City Urban Exhibition Hall to learn about developments in artificial intelligence and smart city sectors in Hangzhou. They later held discussions with local business representatives to understand the latest business developments and to promote Hong Kong's status as an international financial center and the unique advantages of its common law system in assisting mainland enterprises in going global.Lam Ting-kwok traveled to Nanjing last night and will continue his visit today.
