Hong Kong banks outperformed the HSI/ the HSNF by 12%/ 7% on average in February, JPMorgan issued a research report saying. However, individual bank performances varied significantly, with DAHSING BANKING (02356.HK)  +0.050 (+0.404%)    Short selling $409.66K; Ratio 16.633%   soaring by 18% and STANCHART (02888.HK)  -3.600 (-2.154%)    Short selling $9.24M; Ratio 32.781%   sliding by 1%, influenced by FY2025 results and company-specific news.

The FY2025 results announced by banks so far support JPMorgan's expectation of an improvement in PPOP for the overall banking sector, with regional banks showing more stable asset quality, the report added. However, the geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East may become a more important share price driver in the short term.
