The US-Iran conflict has entered its fourth day. US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the US Navy will escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the flow of energy, if necessary. Correspondingly, oil prices narrowed their gains.

The three major US stock indices were on a bumpy ride on Tuesday. The DJIA opened 411 points lower and at one point collapsed by 1,277 points, or 2.6%, bottoming at 47,626. It then gradually narrowed its losses, closing down 403 points or 0.8% at 48,501. The S&P 500 dipped 64 points or 0.9% to close at 6,816. The Nasdaq slumped as much as 624 points, or 2.7%, and settled at 22,516, down 232 points or 1%, making it the top loser among the three major indices.

Among the "Magnificent Seven", Microsoft (MSFT.US)      rose over 1% against the market trend. Conversely, Tesla (TSLA.US)      dived nearly 3% throughout the day, performing the worst among the seven stocks. Nvidia (NVDA.US)      and Alphabet (GOOG.US)      each shed about 1% each. Chip stocks plummeted, with Micron (MU.US)      and Intel (INTC.US)      sliding 8% and 5%, respectively.
