Liu Guiqing, China Telecom's general manager, disclosed at the Mobile World Congress 2026 that the company had joined China Unicom to explore 5G co-construction and sharing. Under this partnership, the two companies have built the world's first and largest 5G SA co-construction and sharing network.

By sharing more than 1.54 million 5G base stations and over 2 million 4G base stations, China Telecom and China Unicom have cumulatively saved USD56.5 billion in investment, reduced annual operating costs by USD6.5 billion, and decreased carbon emissions by 13 million tons, Liu added.
