The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) announced that the opening of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) crude oil futures market experienced a two-minute delay in the opening due to the triggering of a circuit breaker at the opening of New York oil futures.

The US launched an attack on Iran, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran retaliated against Middle Eastern countries and closed the Strait of Hormuz. Spurred by the news, international oil prices surged by 10% this morning (2nd), with Brent oil futures for May delivery and New York oil futures for April delivery last leaping over 4%.
