A fire occurred at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on 26 November, nearly three months ago.

The Task Force on Emergency Accommodation Arrangements, led by Michael Wong, Deputy Financial Secretary, will announce the long-term resettlement plan for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po as early as tomorrow (21st), HK01 quoted sources as saying.

Given that the government's earlier survey on residents' preferences indicated the overwhelming majority of Wang Fuk Court residents hope the government will expedite assistance in resolving long-term resettlement and acquiring property rights, authorities are highly likely to favor ownership acquisition, with the possibility of on-site redevelopment being minimal.

It is suggested that, since the structure of Wang Chi House is intact, if some residents prefer to stay in their original homes and do not accept the government's acquisition, the government has no grounds to force acquisition.

Therefore, the final plan may exclude the acquisition of Wang Chi House, but other options will be provided to Wang Chi House residents, including flat-for-flat scheme, etc..
