China's State Council, based on the recommendation of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), John Lee, decided today (27th) to relieve Erick Tsang from his position of Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.

Before attending the Executive Council meeting, John Lee, together with Erick Tsang, met with the media. Tsang stated that since his appointment as Secretary in April 2020, he has been dedicated to serving the SAR and its citizens. However, due to the high-intensity nature of the work, his health has gradually deteriorated, with his prostate cancer index continuously rising.
