The AI startup "Moonshot AI", supported by BABA-W (09988.HK)  -0.700 (-0.436%)    Short selling $612.88M; Ratio 6.911%   , has reached a valuation of USD4.8 billion in the latest round of financing, which is at least USD500 million higher than the financing round last December, CNBC reported, quoting people with the knowledge of the matter. Given robust market demand, this round of financing may be wrapped up soon.

"Moonshot AI" is the developer of the Kimi chatbot, which is gaining popularity in China. In light of soaring interest in IPOs of Chinese AI companies, the valuation of "Moonshot AI" could be even higher in subsequent financing rounds, sources divulged.
