The deadline for the US-China tariff truce, slated to end on 12 August, is flexible, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Bloomberg.

He noted that the negotiations between the US and China are in a "very good place" ahead of the meetings expected to take place in the coming weeks, and that market participants need not worry about the deadline on 12 August.

He expressed hope to meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng soon, possibly in a third country, around the time of important meetings held by the Chinese leadership in early August.
