Wang Lingjun, Deputy Director of China's General Administration of Customs (GAC), said at a press conference that, in 1H25, the total import and export value of mainland China to the US amounted to RMB2.08 trillion, down 9.3% YoY. Of which, exports amounted to RMB1.55 trillion, down 9.9%, while imports were RMB530.35 billion, down 7.7%.

Due to the so-called 'reciprocal tariffs' imposed by the US, Sino-US trade shifted from YoY growth in 1Q25 to a YoY decline in 2Q25, with a drop of 20.8%.

Recently, positive progress has been made in economic and trade talks in Geneva and London, leading to a recovery in Sino-US trade. The import and export value in June rebounded from less than RMB300 billion in May to over RMB350 billion, with the YoY decline significantly narrowing.
