On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump emphasized that there would be no extension to the August 1 tariff deadline, prompting investors to watch closely, as U.S. stocks stabilized on Tuesday.

The S&P 500 narrowly closed down by 4 points at 6,225; the DJIA closed down by 165 points or 0.4% at 44,240; and the Nasdaq closed up by 5 points at 20,418.

NVIDIA (NVDA.US)      is nearing a market cap of US$4 trillion, with the stock rising 1% on Tuesday. Tesla (TSLA.US)      , which led the decline on Monday, rebounded by 1.3%.

Banks weighed the market down, as HSBC downgraded the three major U.S. banks. JP Morgan (JPM.US)      and Bank of America (BAC.US)      dived more than 3%, while Goldman Sachs (GS.US)      slid nearly 2%.
