According to a research report by Citi, singer Jacky Cheung's concert tour at the Venetian Arena in June helped Macau's GGR for June nearly catch up with May's figures.

The broker observed that the premium mass betting volume in June surged by 58% YoY to HKD15.8 million, with the number of gamblers increasing by 16% YoY to around 629, meaning that average betting per person rose by 36% YoY to about HKD25,000, just 12% lower than May, despite June traditionally being a low season.

Citi also noted that there were 35 whales in June, nearly 50% more than the same period last year, mostly concentrated at WYNN MACAU (01128.HK)  +0.110 (+2.124%)    Short selling $5.67M; Ratio 13.686%   's Chairman’s Club. They wagered a total of around HKD7.6 million, up 128% YoY.

As the main venue for Cheung's concerts, GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)  +1.050 (+3.084%)    Short selling $33.27M; Ratio 11.111%   enjoyed a dramatic increase in foot traffic, which also benefited other casino operators. Citi set its target prices for WYNN MACAU at HKD6.5 and for GALAXY ENT at HKD50.5, both rated as Buy.
