The European Union (EU) refused to participate in the China-EU high-level economic and trade dialogue due to a lack of progress in resolving trade disputes between the two parties, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.

The economic dialogue is generally a preparatory step for the China-EU summit, which is scheduled to be held in China from July 24 to 25, report told.

However, EU officials opted not to conduct the economic dialogue meeting. China wishes to hold the dialogue, but the EU believes there has been no major progress in trade negotiations, sources divulged.
