Fears of a worsening US fiscal deficit due to a tax cut bill shored up Treasury yields and weighed down the DJIA by 816 points, or 1.9%, overnight. Investors are awaiting a press conference by China’s State Council Information Office on tech finance policies at 3PM today (22nd).

Hong Kong bourse opened weaker this morning, tracking global markets. The HSI opened 79 points lower, with losses peaking at 218 points to 23,609. It closed the morning session down 131 points, or 0.6%, at 23,695. The HSCEI sagged 41 points, or 0.5%, to 8,619. The HSTECH dropped 35 points, or 0.7%, to 5,306. Morning turnover totaled HK$107.624 billion.

BIDU-SW (09888.HK)  +1.400 (+1.694%)    Short selling $882.54M; Ratio 44.779%   sagged 3.3% to HK$83.3 after management guided for lower ad revenue in the next two quarters. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK)  +8.000 (+5.702%)    Short selling $477.82M; Ratio 36.162%   dived 3.4% after issuing US$600 million in convertible senior notes, with an option to increase by up to US$90 million. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)  -0.300 (-0.564%)    Short selling $1.74B; Ratio 16.225%   edged up 0.4% ahead of its launch of the YU7 SUV, XringO1 SoC chip, and Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone.
