A private residential project under construction on Anderson Road in Kwun Tong has been exposed that substandard steel reinforcement work has been overlooked.

The site's rebar subcontractors allegedly failed to follow the blueprints in order to save costs, and offered red packets, mooncake vouchers, nightclub entertainment, and other perks to employees of the main contractor and on-site supervisors from the consulting firm in exchange for lax supervision of the rebar works. The ICAC arrested 10 men last week.
