Volvo Cars and Google announced that Volvo will be the primary development partner for the Android automotive software. Volvo will have access to new versions earlier than other automakers and will be able to quickly bring new features, capabilities and experiences to its customers.

The two companies have been working together for a decade, while Volvo currently uses Android 13. However, at Google's I/O annual developer conference in California, the two companies showed Volvo's flagship electric SUV, the EX90, running on the latest Android 15 operating system, while other car makers may have to wait 2 years for the latest version.
