As the 5-day May Day Golden Week holiday in mainland China comes to an end, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the Secretary of Macau Government Tourism Office, said at an event yesterday (6th) that the occupancy rate of Macau's hotels on May Day holiday was nearly 100%, while 1Q25 hotel occupancy rate was 90%, recovering to the 2029 pre-COVID-19 level, according to Macau media. There were about 47,000 hotel rooms in 1Q25, an increase of more than 6,000 rooms from that in 2019, she added. The industry reflected that Macau needs more hotels that do not charge high prices, and the authorities are relaxing the relevant regulations in the hope that the licensing can be complemented with some new categories, such as youth hostels and small hostels, so as to give investors more confidence in making investments.Related NewsM Stanley Expects MO May GGR to Stay Flat YoY, Sees Downside Risk for Casinos' Consensus EBITDA
