Although US and Iranian forces have once again clashed near the Strait of Hormuz, negotiations between the two sides on a temporary peace agreement are making good progress, US President Donald Trump said.

He said it is unhelpful for the public to keep speculating whether he would agree to an extension of the ceasefire and the reopening of the strait. He criticized political opponents for constantly commenting on the pace of negotiations, saying this makes it harder for him to properly carry out his duties in conducting the talks.

International oil prices stretched upswing during the European trading session. Brent oil futures for August delivery last spiked 3.54% to USD94.35 per barrel, while New York oil futures for July delivery last climbed 4.1% to USD90.94 per barrel.
