The automotive semiconductor industry is currently facing three key challenges, namely the rapid growth in demand for AI computing power, the fragmentation of chip systems, and increased volatility in the supply chain, William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO-SW (09866.HK), said during his keynote speech at the Advanced Manufacturing Summit (2026) Semiconductor Industry Forum in Shanghai. NIO-SW is building its own core capabilities for the intelligent era through self-developed and customized chips, Li stressed. The carmaker is striving to optimize the performance and cost of high-value chips and has produced 550,000 in-house chips as of now. The localization rate of its automotive semiconductors is expected to reach 35-40% by 2027. AAStocks Financial News |
