<H Shrs>HSI Ends 83 Pts Higher; BYD COMPANY, XIAOMI-W Lead Charge; Gold & Silver Stocks Rally

The HSI ended the day up 83 points or 0.3% at 27,266. The HSCEI rose 25 points or 0.3% to close at 9,268. The HSTECH grew 48 points or 0.9%, closing at 5,499. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD217.218 billion.

SENSETIME-W (00020.HK), PONY-W (02026.HK), HESAI-W (02525.HK), and YOFC (06869.HK) were added to the MSCI China Index. SENSETIME-W and PONY-W leaped 2.9% and 2.6%. HESAI-W even shot up 7.9%, but YOFC slipped 5.7%.

SMIC (00981.HK) dropped 2.2%. Although it logged a 61% YoY increase in last quarter's net profit, CLSA's report said its gross margin guidance for 1Q26 fell slightly below the market expectation. CHINA LIT (00772.HK) eroded 8%. It estimated its 2025 IFRS loss to have widened to at least RMB750 million.

Among other tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) edged down 0.5% to HKD548. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) inched 0.1-0.7% higher. NTES-S (09999.HK) grew 1%. BABA-W (09988.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) dipped 0.2%. KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) rocketed 7.4%. KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK), TME-SW (01698.HK), NETEASE MUSIC (09899.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) gained 4.1-5.2%. NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) ticked up 3.2%.

Auto stocks led the gains, with XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) jumped 4.3% to HKD37.1. NIO-SW (09866.HK) added 1.6%. The EU has granted additional tariff exemption to China-produced electric vehicles in exchange for adopting a price floor and quota for the first time. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) ticked up 3.9% to HKD99.15. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) and LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) rose 2.7%.

Gold and silver stocks were on the rise. CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK), ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK), SD GOLD (01787.HK), and CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) rallied 2.8-4.4%. LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) and ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) skyrocketed 7.8% and 9.1%.
