Mable Chan: MTR Required to Unveil Prelim Investigation Status on Wan Chai Station Incident Today and Submit Report Within a Month

The MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK)'s Island Line service was affected this morning (11th) by an object obstructing the tracks near Wan Chai Station, causing a temporary suspension of service between Sheung Wan Station and Quarry Bay Station.

Mable Chan, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, stated that the government is highly concerned about the incident and will closely follow up. The MTR has been required to unveil the preliminary investigation status to the public today and submit an investigation report within a month.

It was suspected that the incident was caused by a construction vehicle damaging a signal box, while other reports said that leftover items from late-night construction obstructed the tracks, HK01 reported. Inquiries are being made with the MTR.
