The HSI ended the day up 376 points or 1.4% at the day's high of 26,608. The HSCEI rose 171 points or 1.9% to close at 9,220. The HSTECH climbed 176 points or 3.1%, closing at 5,863. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD306.223 billion. The Anti-Monopoly and Anti-Unfair Competition Committee Office of China's State Council announced an investigation into the market competition status of the food delivery platform service industry. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) leaped 6.6% to HKD105. JD-SW (09618.HK) went up 2%. BABA-W (09988.HK) hiked 5.3% to HKD154.3. AI and software stocks rallied amid reports that DeepSeek will release a new-generation flagship AI model in the coming weeks. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) jumped 5.3% and 7.4%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) and CHINASOFT INT'L (00354.HK) swelled 6.9%. MEITU (01357.HK), KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK), KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK), FOURTH PARADIGM (06682.HK), INSILICO (03696.HK), and MINIMAX-WP (00100.HK) were hyped up 11.7-17.5%. WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) and KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) skyrocketed 21% and 31%. Chip stocks BIREN TECH (06082.HK) and ILUVATAR COREX (09903.HK) also mushroomed 19.7% and 7.8%. SMIC (00981.HK) gained 1.2%. Among other technology stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) grew 2% and 3%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) and JD HEALTH (06618.HK) spiked 6.5% and 5%. EAST BUY (01797.HK), CHINA LIT (00772.HK), and ALI HEALTH (00241.HK) ballooned about 10%. Carmakers BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) added 1.2% and 2.4%.
