UBS lately forecast Hong Kong's GDP growth in 2025 to reach 3.1%, compared to the previous forecast of 2.2%, said William Deng, Senior Economist Asia & China at UBS. The bank projected Hong Kong's GDP to grow by 2.3% in 2026, which also beats the street consensus of 2%.

Recent data reflected encouraging signs of recovery in various aspects of Hong Kong, such as the resurgence of popularity, growth in trade, and active financial transactions. Hong Kong should continue to benefit from high value-added trade.

That said, in wake of the slowdown in external growth, economic growth may slacken in the coming quarters. Despite the persistent recovery and various signs, the bank still believed that the key to Hong Kong's economy lies in leveraging comparative advantages and establishing new growth engines.
