Chinalco: First Shipment of Iron Ore from Simandou Project, Loaded with 200K Tons of Iron Ore

An ocean-going vessel loaded with 200,000 tons of high-grade iron ore set sail early this morning at the Port of Morebaya in Guinea, successfully marking the first shipment of iron ore from the Simandou project towards China, Chinalco Group announced.

The Simandou iron ore mine, located in the southeastern Beyla Province of Guinea, is a world-class large-scale high-quality open-pit hematite mine, with resources exceeding 4 billion tons and an average iron grade of over 65%.

The project is divided into southern and northern blocks, with the southern block co-developed by Chinalco and Rio Tinto, and the northern block co-developed by Baowu and Winning Consortium.
