A severe fire broke out at Wan Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, burning 7 out of 8 blocks in the estate. As of 6 AM Thursday, fires in 3 blocks were still not extinguished. Firefighters and police held a press conference, reporting an additional 4 deaths, bringing the total death toll to over 44. However, they believed that there are still survivors inside the buildings. The police stated that foam boards were found sealing the windows at the elevator lobby on each floor in the only one block of Wan Fuk Court unaffected by the fire. As foam is highly flammable, three individuals from the building's maintenance engineering company, including two directors and a consultant, were arrested for alleged gross negligence.
