European finance ministers agreed to levy taxes on small parcels under EUR150 starting next year, in a move to combat cheap Chinese e-commerce imports, foreign media reported. Such move is expected to impact Shein and Temu.

The EU had initially planned to abolish the tariff exemption for small parcels by 2028, but EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic has suggested advancing this to the first quarter of 2026. This proposal still requires approval from the European Parliament.
