The tourism consumption market continued to escalate in the first week of the implementation of Hainan Island's duty-free new policy, according to state-run media in China. On 1-7 November, Haikou Customs supervised a total duty-free shopping amount of RMB506 million on Hainan Island, with the number of shoppers reaching 72,900, representing YoY increases of 34.86% and 3.37% each, according to the statistics from Haikou Customs. Chinese tourism-related stocks ascended. CTG DUTY-FREE (01880.HK) spiked 13.2% to close at $80.1 at midday, logging an over-1-year high since October 2024, with a turnover of $1.02 billion. AIR CHINA (00753.HK) and SAMSONITE (01910.HK) swelled 6.3% and 5.9%, while CHINA EAST AIR (00670.HK), TONGCHENGTRAVEL (00780.HK) and CHINA SOUTH AIR (01055.HK) leaped 4.4-5.1%.
