A Goldman Sachs report by analysts including Daan Struyven suggested that China, the world’s largest plastics producer, could include petrochemical feedstocks like ethane and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in a tariff exemption list if trade negotiations with the U.S. yield positive results.

In wake of historical and economic factors, petrochemical feedstocks are likely to be among the first items considered for tariff exemptions by China, the report wrote, noting that these materials received waivers during the 2018 trade restrictions.
