At midday, the market closed at 25,317, up slightly by 6 pts or 0.02%, with half-day turnover of HKD105.013 billion. The HSCEI closed at 8,423, down 27 pts or 0.32%. The HSTECH closed at 4,491, down 25 pts or 0.56%. Among techs, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) slumped 3.06% by midday. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), NTES (09999.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK) and BABA-W (09988.HK) dipped more than 1%, while TENCENT (00700.HK) edged down 0.14%. The Baltic Dry Index ascended 5.5% yesterday (2nd) to 3,331, hitting a new high since December 2023. Hong Kong-listed shippers advanced, with COSCO SHIP ENGY (01138.HK) soaring 8.19%, PACIFIC BASIN (02343.HK) escalating 5.88%, and OOIL (00316.HK) mounting nearly 3%. Spot gold bounced back, lifting gold miners and non-ferrous metal stocks. ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) jumped up 8.36%, LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) spiked 5.75%, ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) added 2.29%, and JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) climbed 3.13%. CMOC (03993.HK), CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) and CHALCO (02600.HK) elevated more than 4%, while MMG (01208.HK) shot up 5.68%. Among individual stocks, SHEIN-W (00625.HK) sagged 5.22% after being included in the Hang Seng Composite Index and its sector indices. KB LAMINATES (01888.HK) mushroomed 3.85% after receiving another stake increase from KINGBOARD HLDG (00148.HK).
