Jack Ma Reportedly Adds Stake in BABA-W for Days, Involving HKD600M+
2026-08-26 08:29:58 After BABA-W (09988.HK) raised HKD80 billion through a discounted share placement, BABA-W founder Jack Ma increased his holdings in Alibaba for several consecutive days, involving a total amount exceeding HKD600 million, demonstrating his confidence in Alibaba's AI development, Chinese media reported. Meanwhile, disclosures of interests on the HKEX showed that BABA-W Chairman Joe Tsai further increased his holdings in the group on-market on Tuesday (25th), involving 720,000 shares at an average price of approximately HKD113.4668 per share, involving more than HKD81.696 million. Together with the 720,000 shares purchased on Monday (24th), Tsai invested more than HKD162 million over the two days, raising his shareholding ratio to 1.44%. BABA-W CEO Eddie Wu also increased his holdings by 350,000 shares on Monday, at an average price of HKD111.6359 per share, involving approximately HKD39.073 million. Previously, BABA-W announced that all proceeds from the share placement would be invested in AI development.
