2026-06-26 16:30:39 US stocks jumbled overnight (25th). OpenAI reportedly delayed its IPO, coupled with Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) raising product prices, the market was depressed. This morning (26th), chip stocks were sold off. Japan market closed down more than 4%, whereas South Korea's KOSPI once slumped 9%. The HSI opened down 124 pts, immediately falling below the 23,000 level, and at one point tumbled more than 500 pts. It closed at 22,671, down 405 pts or 1.76%. Full-day turnover reached HKD342.101 billion. The HSTECH closed at 4,255, down 150 pts or 3.41%. The HSCEI closed at 7,460, down 147 pts or 1.94%. Leading techs were broadly under pressure. BABA-W (09988.HK) extended losses by 5.79%, sinking below HKD90 to close at HKD89.5. TENCENT (00700.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) each dropped more than 2%. NTES-S (09999.HK) bucked the trend, soaring 3.14%, after HSBC Global Investment Research said the company would be eligible for inclusion in the Southbound Stock Connect following its dual primary listing. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) once ticked up 3% in the afternoon after stating that its value had been severely underestimated and that it planned to conduct a share buyback, but later turned south by 2.8% to close at HKD64.25. Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) announced price hikes for Mac, iPad and home devices. Hong Kong-listed Apple concept stocks came under pressure. SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) plunged 9.1% to HKD60.9, making it the worst-performing blue chip of the day.
