Counterpoint: Global Smartphone Shipments Fall 19% YoY in 3Q; ASP Rises 27% to Record Quarterly High
2026-11-04 17:23:00
Despite a 19% YoY plunge in global smartphone shipments in 3Q26, global smartphone revenue still added 3% YoY to USD114 billion, as revealed by the latest Market Monitor Service from Counterpoint Research. Growth in average selling prices (ASP) supported market revenue and offset the impact from falling shipments.

Premiumization trends, improved product mix and storage-driven price hikes across price segments pushed global ASP up 27% YoY to USD442, marking a record quarterly high.

Apple (AAPL.US) posted a record high revenue for the corresponding period in 3Q, rising 17% YoY, and captured a record 50% share of the global smartphone revenue market for the quarter. Meanwhile, Apple's ASP lifted 19% YoY, on sustained demand for the iPhone 17 series and strong initial market performance of the iPhone 18 Pro series.

Samsung ranked second with a 19% revenue share, with revenue growing 14% YoY, while maintaining its global market leadership with a 22% shipment share. Revenue growth was mainly fostered by a 21% YoY hike in ASP to USD367.

XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)'s 3Q revenue was broadly flat YoY, but ASP achieved double-digit growth, partly offsetting the impact of shipment contraction.

OPPO and vivo recorded YoY revenue declines of 26% and 22% respectively in 3Q, as the impact from shipment declines outweighed support from ASP growth.
