2026-09-02 12:08:28 Mainland China's auto sales in August continued to recover moderately despite seasonal factors, with sales volumes of major automakers rising 6% MoM, CLSA said in a research report. However, dealers stepped up promotional efforts to boost sales, leading to sustained pricing pressure. Against the backdrop of weak consumer spending, the broker viewed that new model launches and promotional campaigns remain key catalysts for sales growth. Therefore, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) showed relatively stronger resilience, while GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) may face greater pressure. The broker estimated feeble weak demand to persist through year-end, with a recovery likely emerging in 2027 after previously accumulated demand is gradually absorbed. The market projected the government to introduce further policies, including adjustments to export value-added tax rebates, to promote industry consolidation. BYD COMPANY remains CLSA's top sector pick. ~ AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com | |
