Hang Seng Indexes Company unveiled the quarterly review results, Goldman Sachs recaptured in a report. HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) and WEICHAI POWER (02338.HK) will be added as HSI constituents, lifting the number of constituents from 93 to 95, with the changes taking effect after market close on September 4.

There will be no changes to the HSCEI constituents. For the HSTECH, ILUVATAR COREX (09903.HK) will replace TONGCHENGTRAVEL (00780.HK). Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Composite Index will add 61 stocks and remove 15 stocks.

The broker estimated that the index reshuffle will generate more than USD7.2 billion in total two-way passive fund flows. Based on benchmark index weighting changes and free float factor adjustments, the simulated index market cap changes for the HSI, HSCEI and HSTECH are +1.6%, +1.5% and -2.6%, respectively.

At the sector level, technology hardware and semiconductors, software and services, as well as internet and media are expected to record the largest passive inflows, at approximately USD870 million, USD190 million to USD230 million, and USD190 million to USD230 million, respectively. Banks, utilities and consumer retail may record the largest outflows, at approximately USD800 million, USD100 million to USD140 million, and USD100 million to USD140 million, respectively.

Goldman Sachs projected the six stocks with the largest passive net inflows to be TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) and LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) given higher free float factors, HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) and WEICHAI POWER (02338.HK) due to inclusion in the HSI, as well as TENCENT (00700.HK) and SMIC (00981.HK) on higher simulated weightings.

Potential inflows are estimated at USD160-470 million. Stocks expected to record relatively large passive net outflows include HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), NTES (09999.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) owing to lower simulated weightings, as well as TONGCHENGTRAVEL (00780.HK) as a result of removal from the HSTECH and CCB (00939.HK), with potential outflows ranging USD100-520 million.
