Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law visited the Hong Kong Exhibition at the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale on Wednesday (6th, Venice time) and met with two participating Hong Kong artists, Wu Shaojing and Xu Kaijiao.Rosanna Law arrived in Venice, Italy on Wednesday to begin her visit and attended a reception hosted by Art Basel to consolidate the friendly relationship between Hong Kong and the organizer. The five-year cooperation arrangement reached between Hong Kong and Art Basel will help reinforce Hong Kongs status as the exclusive regional host city of the fair and deepen the partnership between the Government and the art exhibition over the next five years.On Thursday (7th, local time), Rosanna Law continued her visit in Venice, touring the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, including the Italian Pavilion at the Arsenale and other thematic exhibitions at the Giardini.Established in 1895, the Venice Biennale is the worlds longest-running international exhibition of contemporary visual art. Each edition sees participation from around 100 countries and regions through national pavilions and collateral events. Since 2001, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council has taken part in the Biennale through collateral exhibitions to promote the development of Hong Kong art on the international stage and foster cultural exchange.
