Due to escalated tensions in the Middle East, Japan's 10-year government bond yield climbed to its highest level since 1997. Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the US would begin a comprehensive naval blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.The benchmark rate rose 5.5 bps to 2.49% in Tokyo on Monday. Ten-year bond futures fell by as much as 55 bps to 129.27, while the 5-year yield leaped 4 bps to 1.9%.
