Junyang Lin, the head of technology for BABA-W (09988.HK)  -4.600 (-3.453%)    Short selling $1.34B; Ratio 19.703%   's Qwen model, is set to leave the company, having announced his resignation on social platform X while not providing an explanation.

Lin is reportedly one of the most influential figures in Alibaba's transition to AI. Besides Lin, two other technical experts from the Qwen model team are also leaving.

They are Binyuan Hui, a related person in charge of the Qwen team, and Kaixin Li, a core contributor to the Qwen 3.5 series, Qwen VL, and Coder series. All of their posts mentioned Lin's departure as their resignation reason.

Chen Cheng, a contributor to Qwen, commented on X's repost that he believed Lin's departure was not up to him, as the two of them released the Qwen3.5 small-size model series together last night (3rd), and he could not imagine Qwen without Lin.
