The number of mainland Chinese tourists visiting Japan in January decreased by 60.7% YoY, further expanding from the 45.3% decline in December 2025, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) released data saying.

Meanwhile, due to the significant reduction in mainland Chinese tourists, the total number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in January dropped by 4.9% YoY, marking the first YoY decline in four years.
