Chinese President, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi Jinping, recently issued important instructions to central enterprises emphasizing the need to focus on main responsibilities and core businesses, continuously optimizing the layout of the state-owned economy, and effectively enhancing core functions and competitiveness, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Furthermore, the meeting of the leaders of central enterprises was held in Beijing for 2 consecutive days (22-23 December). Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Premier, attended the meeting and pointed out in his speech that strong guarantees should be provided in advancing major infrastructure construction, accelerating the update and digital & intelligent transformation of traditional infrastructure, and moderately launching new infrastructure construction in advance.

Central enterprises must play a leading role in achieving self-reliance and control over industrial and supply chains. By integrating emerging and future industries with their core responsibilities and primary business, central enterprises will ensure the supply of energy resources and enhance the resilience of the industrial chain.
