Japanese bourse reverted up in early trading today (17th), with major stocks seeing bargain hunting driving the index higher. The Nikkei reversed its losses from the previous two trading days, opening 29 points higher. It initially tumbled 305 points to bottom at 49,077 before rebounding, closing the morning session up 170 points, or 0.3%, at 49,553.

In the AI and semiconductor sectors, memory chipmaker Kioxia (285A.JP) rallied 5.9%; SoftBank (9984.JP) and Nvidia supplier Advantest (6857.JP) rose 1.9% and 1.5% respectively; Tokyo Electron Ltd. (8035.JP) added 0.5%; Lasertec Corp. (6920.JP) gained less than 0.1%, and Disco Corporation (6146.JP) dipped 0.7%.
