Market concerns over the financial conditions of US regional banks led DJIA futures to last slide 454 points or 1% to 45,706. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures dropped 1.1% and 1.2% respectively.

The HSI opened 36 points lower this morning (17th) before its decline gradually expanded, and once plummeted 736 points to a low of 25,151 after midday, testing the 100-day MA at 25,076. The index last printed at 25,218 at the tail market, down 669 points or 2.6%, with a turnover of $283.3 billion. The HSTECH last stumbled 254 points or 4.2% at 5,748.

Only 5 out of the 88 constituents of the HSI inclined. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK)  -3.340 (-8.130%)    Short selling $460.44M; Ratio 29.890%   , SMIC (00981.HK)  -4.800 (-6.495%)    Short selling $1.36B; Ratio 11.682%   and XINYI SOLAR (00968.HK)  -0.250 (-6.793%)    Short selling $164.04M; Ratio 18.515%   dipped 7.3-8.8%, being the largest losers among blue chips. Moreover, CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  -1.400 (-5.747%)    Short selling $634.93M; Ratio 28.415%   , NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK)  -2.460 (-5.383%)    Short selling $131.40M; Ratio 27.971%   , JD HEALTH (06618.HK)  -3.500 (-5.447%)    Short selling $150.55M; Ratio 32.267%   , SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK)  -4.150 (-5.165%)    Short selling $363.70M; Ratio 45.237%   and SINO BIOPHARM (01177.HK)  -0.380 (-4.961%)    Short selling $265.16M; Ratio 27.794%   eroded around 5-6%.

PING AN (02318.HK)  -1.800 (-3.243%)    Short selling $694.20M; Ratio 28.933%   receded 3.8%.

ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK)  -0.420 (-1.272%)    Short selling $823.12M; Ratio 27.352%   , which will announce its 1-3Q results after today's market close, sagged 1.3%.

ZTE (00763.HK)  -5.520 (-12.831%)    Short selling $305.31M; Ratio 8.490%   was under heavy selling pressure, and last printed at $37.14, sinking 13.67%, with turnover increasing to $3.461 billion.
